General
Motors has given the contract to produce the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro
convertible tops to Magna International out of Aurora, Ontario after
Germany's Edscha AG who originally had the contract filed for insolvency.
The General has come out swinging saying they plan to set first-year
production of Camaro convertibles at 20,000 units, a number which has only
been met by the dominant Ford Mustang convertible in recent years. Magna
will build the Camaro convertible tops at it's Bowling Green, Kentucky plant
with fabric from a Mexican supplier. The 2012 Camaro convertible is slated
for production in the second half of 2011.
